A national conference on Goods and Services Tax (GST) Way Forward was organised by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). CAs are engaged in providing important services due to which GST collection has been increased substantially, said Principal Chief Commissioner of CGST Krishna Mishra.

The experts spoke about how GST was introduced for convenience of common man and there was room for reforms in it. Mishra, said that, the GST council was consistently working on changing it into simple tax. “The council is sure enough to cope up with all the shortcomings in this tax with the help of inputs from industrialist, professionals and common man. CAs are engaged in providing important services due to which GST collection has been increased substantially.” Rajiv Kapur said in the statement that, some entities are facing issues while filing online GST, which should immediately be helped. “We received a very good response to our campaigns such as ‘Sab ka Vishwas’. We are trying to resolve issues and gain common man’s faith and also anticipate co-operation from tax payers.

Those who are creating false GST bills can be easily booked. It is difficult to bring all tax payers under one roof. All will be well though it will take some time,” said Kapur. Gupta said that, “CA plays an important role as a catalyst in national development, social and economic reforms. ICAI is starving consistently for retaining quality of CAs. We have installed platforms like digital hub, UDIN for guidance. The CA syllabus is updated by blending it with technology. Timely guidance sessions, workshops are arranged to make the CAs more professional. We are also working on digitizing and atomizing our services.”
